Petition Action

China has breached the SinoBritish Joint Declaration, the UK should take back HK

Petition Details

China & HK gov have breached the Joint Declaration many times. It’s a legally binding int’l treaty registered with the UN. A resolution of such breach is to resume the status before it's signed. Thus UK should request China to give back HK, by Int'l Court of Justice, by a new treaty with China.

Additional Information

Below could be used to achieve this: 1.Int’l Court of Justice; 2.Signing a new treaty with China; 3.The UN.

Benefits of owning HK: HK shares common interests & values with the UK but no common values with China. HKers are good in English & provide quality human capital & help the UK to enter Asia.
John Major said, “If there were suggestion of a breach of the JD, we would have a duty to pursue every legal & other avenue.” The UK shall take all necessary actions on China not honouring the JD.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

This would be a decision for the people of Hong Kong.

There are already petitions about the situation in Hong Kong. You might like to sign one or more of these petitions if they call for things you want to happen. You're more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
