To have a Dignity at Work Bill, so workplace bullying is a criminal offence.
The psychological impact of a victim of workplace bullying, is immense and affects so many of a person’s live, from increased stress and time of work, self esteem, family relationships, debt, homelessness, job-loss, depression, anxiety. In the worst cases it can even lead to suicide and PTSD.
The aim is to counteract bullying at work. The main objective is to prevent bullying, but if it does take place, then the Bill provides redress. Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect at work. Bullying is totally unacceptable behaviour and it denies people of the basic right to dignity and respect. Bullying is a major workplace problem, with 1 in 5 people being bullied in the workplace.
