Remove TV License requirements to stream “Live” TV from third party providers
It is currently illegal to view/record live content from a third-party supplier through transmission options that do not use infrastructure funded by the TV license. Households are being denied the option to choose free live streamed content.
This license requirement should be removed.
A TV license in the UK is required for consuming (watching/recording) any live TV, regardless of how it is transmitted (Internet, Satellite, Digital), and regardless of who provides it (BBC, Sky, ITV etc)
This makes BBC content noncompetitive and impacts content quality.
It also means that households are being denied the option to make considerable savings through choosing free live stream content (via satellite or internet).
The BBC model unfairly impacts the poor.
We should have a choice.
