Petition Action

Make it against law for school pupils participate demonstrations in school times

Petition Details

Children are taking part in demonstrations during school times. Any child can be influenced by a day off and told something would be good just to get them interested.
Children need to be in school safety. Not led around protesting on our streets. Use adults not children. Keep them safe.

Additional Information

Make it against the law anyone allowing or encouraging people of school age to miss school to participate in demonstrations. Big fines should be given to teachers and parents and leaders of these demonstrations. And repeat offenders should have stronger consequence When they are adults they can go on demonstrations but not as easily led children. LEAVE THEM OUT OF THIS. This is just a way of getting the figures up. Without the kids these demos would be small.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Local councils and schools already have legal powers to take action against parents if a child is absent from school without good reason, including Parenting Orders and fines. You can find out more here:

www.gov.uk/school-attendance-absence/legal-action-to-enforce-school-attendance

We're not sure exactly what else you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
