Fund the £200 million for Thomas Cook and save the tax payer £600 million.
1000's of jobs in the UK and around the world are dependent on Thomas Cook survival. It would cost the gov £600m in tax payers money just to repatriate everyone. Then there will be mass bankruptcies of other travel companies (at least 165 in one go).
Its not just TC - airport handlers, fuel providers, hoteliers, airport staff, small tour operators, independent travel agents - the economic impact will be massive.
