Petition Action

Include BN(O) into Freedom of Movement with other countries

Petition Details

Freedom of movement with Australia in the recent trade talk may also extend to other Commonwealth Countries, in particular the CANZUK countries. The arrangement should include all six types of British Nationalities: British Citizens, the British National (Overseas) and any other British Nationals.

Additional Information

The Early Day Motions urging Commonwealth countries to give Hongkongers second citizenship was supported by 40 MPs. In addition, over 150 parliamentarians from both Houses signed a letter calling for an “insurance policy" to grant second citizenship or right of abode in other commonwealth countries to Hongkongers.

As Brexit is expected in the near future, it is the golden opportunity for the UK to right the wrong and show that the UK stands with Hong Kong to uphold universal values.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition asking for British Nationals Overseas to be given British Citizenship if that's something you'd like to see happen.
