Petition Details

The Supreme Court has ruled that Boris Johnson illegally closed down Parliament (‘prorogued’) to avoid scrutiny and democracy.

He wanted to close down our democracy so he could lead a disastrous ‘no deal’ Brexit. No deal is an assault on our democracy our economy.

Additional Information

The Supreme Court has ruled that Boris Johnson illegally closed down Parliament (‘prorogued’) to avoid scrutiny and democracy.

He wanted to close down our democracy so he could lead a disastrous ‘no deal’ Brexit. No deal is an assault on our democracy our economy. To create an Americanised, deregulated, privatised economy, and bump Britain into a trade deal with Donald Trump. There is simply no mandate for no deal.

Boris Johnson has attacked our democracy.

He has taken Britain to the brink. He lied about his government’s motivations for the prorogation. And he has no majority in the House of Commons.

This is unacceptable. Boris Johnson must now resign.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The resignation of the Prime Minister would be an individual decision for that person, and not a decision for the Government or Parliament as a whole.

If you're concerned about a particular policy or decision that's the responsibility of Government or Parliament, you could start a petition about that.
