Make mental health training compulsory for the police force
Official statistics show the suicide rate in the UK has gone up since 2013. I have recently lost 2 friends to suicide and in both instances the police had been involved before they died and didn't respond to them properly. I want to make it mandatory for the police to be trained in mental health
Between 2016 and 2018 in Oxfordshire alone there were 155 deaths by suicide with 126 of them being men. The effects of suicide can touch whole communities and the impact on families, friends, colleagues and others can be devastating. The evidence has come from JSNA 2019
