Petition Action

Make universal credit have shared primary of children

Petition Details

Single dad's who has been forced to move back home with his parents makes it almost impossible to have the children overnight, on minimum wage there's no hope of moving out unless help from the council or universal credit but according to them we don't have children because we're not primary carer

Additional Information

As a single dad who is trying his best to see his children as much as he can, if they could stay over night I would have as much as I possible could! The plan with my ex partner would be to have them 15 days in a moth, so having them basically the same amount of time as her why does this not entitle me to any child benefit any universal credit child entitlement and why will council housing not take into consideration my two children staying with me!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do to change Universal Credit.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
