Petition Action

Introduce a code of conduct for Members of Parliament

Petition Details

Over the past few days, the Prime Minister and other Members of Parliament have used language which has fuelled division in an already divided country. Divisive words used by both Leave and Remain supporters are unacceptable. Elected Members should fully understand the power of the words they use.

Additional Information

Politicians on both sides of Brexit must be more responsible with their language.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

A code of conduct already exists for MPs, so we are not sure what else you would like Parliament or the Government to do.

You can read more about the Code of Conduct for MPs here: publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201516/cmcode/1076/107601.htm

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
