Boris Johnson should give Channel 4 News an in-depth interview

Petition Details

The Prime Minister has refused interviews to Channel 4 News while agreeing to be quizzed by the BBC and ITV News. All MPs - particularly ministers and the Cabinet and opposition spokespeople - must be available to news broadcasters as media scrutiny is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy.

Additional Information

Krishnan Gurumurthy, a respected Channel 4 News journalist was refused an interview with the Prime Minister Boris Johnson at the Conservative Party conference 2019. Interviews were given to all other major national broadcasters. It is unacceptable for the UK Prime Minister to avoid scrutiny which is afforded to other outlets.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

This would be a decision for the Prime Minister and not the UK Government or Parliament.
