Save Furness Enterprise
We, the undersigned, call on the government to source or provide funding to save Furness Enterprise.
Furness Enterprise was set up in 1991 and has since helped to create more than 10,000 private sector jobs.
The not-for-profit agency is also responsible for safeguarding thousands of at risk positions, setting up more than 2,000 private sector companies and led a successful campaign for a new bypass on the A590 at Newton.
However, on January 16, 2012, Furness Enterprise announced that, due to a lack of government funding, it would be closing at the end of August 2012.
As the local newspaper, the North-West Evening Mail is launching a Fighting for Furness campaign to protect the future of the South Cumbrian economy.
We are calling on the government to save Furness Enterprise; the 18 jobs which will be directly lost and the tens of thousands of new jobs the agency would continue to create.
You can't sign this petition because it is now closed. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
