There should be no Government involvement, or taxpayer money, in a Royal Yacht
On the same day the Government announces yet another round of redundancies in the Armed Forces, and at a time when the budgets of British Citizens are under intense pressure it is wholly inappropriate for the Government to be even contemplating the provision of public funds to the commissioning of a Royal Yacht (either in the build or maintenance). The Royal Family should be presenting the UK with a gift on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee, not the other way round.
