Make publishing the carbon footprint of a product a requirement
Empower consumers to make environmentally conscious purchases.
Make manufacturers publish the environmental impact, carbon footprint and water consumption on products and services across convenience, shopping, specialty and unsought consumables i.e. food, building materials, clothing, phones
This calculation should clearly illustrate the total impact of the product, any packaging and the final impact that any disposal or recycling process would add to the environment after the product and packaging has been finished with.
As a suggestion this could be displayed in a similar fashion to the nutritional food traffic-light system.
This should then be used as a measurable factor when bidding for government contracts.
