Guy Fawkes night should be held on November the 5th only.
As a child growing up in the 60s I remember Guy Fawkes night was ALWAYS held on November 5th.
When did that change? ????♀️
My reason for starting this petition is to attempt to lessen the impact that celebrating this event has on our pets.
Remember remember the 5th of November.
I don’t want to be a killjoy and I really do enjoy a good firework display but I strongly believe that celebrating Guy Fawkes night has got out of hand to the detriment and suffering of our pets and wildlife. Guy Fawkes night used to be celebrated on November 5th. Now days events seem to go on for at least a week making it very difficult for pet owners to take appropriate action to protect their pets from the distress that fireworks often cause.
Let’s go back to Nov 5th being held on Nov 5th.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Government and Parliament are not responsible for deciding when people to choose to celebrate events.
You could start a petition calling for the use of fireworks to be limited only to 5 November, if that's what you'd like to see happen.
