Change the legislation to protect survivors of domestic abuse in court

Petition Details

Mothers are accused of ‘parental alienation’ or of causing ‘emotional harm’ by ‘poisoning’ the children against the father.”

Additional Information

Anne Neale, of Legal Action for Women, said: “Men have been empowered by the family courts “This creates a climate in which men feel more emboldened to harass women through the courts and continue exerting controlling behaviour through the courts.
“Violent men also continue to exert control over ex-partners and their children through the family court, enabled by Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (CAFCASS).

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about how domestic violence victims are treated in court, but we're not sure exactly what changes you'd like made to the current system.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
