Bring MPs State Funded Expenses In Line With Welfare Cap

Additional Information

In order to create a fairer society we propose that the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) consider bringing the Members Expenses Allowances maximum total claim per member in line with those of the Welfare cap.

In a fair society tax payers should not have to fund the sometimes lavish 'lifestyle choices' for Members when cheaper alternatives were available to them.

If a Member ‘chooses’ to buy a large house in an expensive area that is a ‘lifestyle choice’ and in that situation, just like welfare claimants who are living beyond their means, the Members should not rely on state funded expenses payments to pay for that ‘lifestyle choice’ when they still have to also claim for other essentials, like staffing and travel costs in order to do their job.

Please introduce a Cap on the total Members Expenses Allowed per Member in line with the Welfare Cap to further relieve the public purse and bring about fairness in the system.
