Longer Sentences for Violent Sexual Offences against Children in Scotland

Sexual Offences(Scotland)Act 2009 states Life Imprisonment can be given for Rape or Sexual assault on a young child. In cases Children under 2yrs have been raped & the offender getting as little as 4yrs.
Scottish Government Guidelines in sentencing state the following should be considered:
•seriousness of the offence in comparison with other types of offence
•effect on the victim
•range of penalties available
It also states “Sentencing should provide the court the ability to take action to protect the public from violent,sexual & dangerous offenders.”
A dangerous driver can get 2yrs & death by dangerous driving 14yrs surely someone who commits a premeditated act on a Child should not be released into a community where children should be able to play freely, surely life should mean life?
We the people of Scotland need tougher guideline for Magistrates to ensure proper sentences are given to fit these crimes & to keep our streets safe for our Children to play.
