National Health Service national changes in England referendum

Additional Information

E-petition details: That before any new national legislation concerning the organisation and governance of NHS services in England can be enacted by the Government, the said legislation has to have the consent of at least 50% plus one vote of all voters taking part in a referendum of all registered voters.

The National Health Service is far too important to the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities in England for its future to be determined by legislation not included in the election manifestos of any political party now with MPs in Parliament at the time of the last general election in May 2010. In such circumstances, it seems reasonable to request that a referendum is held, especially when the Government is imposing mayoral referendums in major cities in England — something quite minor in the order of things when compared to the future of the NHS in England.
