Improving Company Openness
HM Government should consider setting up a free web accessible public companies search capability similar to the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission EDGAR database.
All public companies in the UK are required to file documents with Companies House. A free, easy to use web service such as EDGAR would improve company openness, transparency and allow independent audit and research. There should be minimal costs as Companies House currently has storage and search capabilities for internal use.
