Making NHS Dental treatment accessible
The lack of access to NHS Dental treatment across the country needs addressing.
People are unable to access basic check-ups from dental practices within a distance which is commutable, resulting in severe long term problems which could have been avoided.
Furthermore expense treatments have recently become unavailable on the NHS, as dentist no longer receive adequate funding from the government to provide the treatment on the NHS.
The government should therefore:
•Incentivise dentists into taking on new NHS patients
•Provide higher subsidies to dentists for treatments to allow dentists to provide this service on the NHS
•Subsidise dental education and require newly qualified dentists to practise within the NHS for a specified number of years
•Increase the minimum payment required from patients to assist in paying for the above action
•Re-prioritise other NHS services to allow routine dental checkups to be available for all
