A motion for the introduction of a Digital Data Dividend (The DDD)

Petition Details

We ask the secretary of state for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to table a legislative motion that ensures that UK citizens can share in the wealth that is created when companies process (and sell) their personal (digital) data.

This is a natural evolution from GDPR regulation.

Additional Information

The motion should achieve the following:

1. Companies must use a uniformed mechanism on their website that enables people to opt out of their data being harvested - with a single click.

2. Companies must financially compensate people when they make money from selling their data. There are many ways to implement this, we believe that parliament is well equipped to explore and discuss the most elegant method.
