Petition Action

Build the cancelled platforms 15/16 at Manchester Piccadilly.

Petition Details

Work to build Manchester Piccadilly platforms 15/16 and associated Castlefield Corridor Improvements should begin immediately to help relieve severe congestion on the line.

Additional Information

Manchester Piccadilly platforms 13/14 and the Castlefield Corridor, including Deansgate and Oxford Road stations have been officially classed as 'congested' by Network Rail. Delays at these platforms ripple across the entire region. Plans to relieve this congestion were drawn up, then shelved by the previous government.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Network Rail and individual train companies are responsible for station improvements.

You could start a petition calling for the UK Government to provide funding and support any proposals for improvements at Manchester Piccadilly station.
