Introduce emergency measures to support gig economy workers to self isolate
The Government need to take action now to offer financial provision for the self employed and those on zero hour contracts to ensure they act for the greater good toward containing and delaying the coronavirus; that they don't have to choose between income and social responsibility.
History is rife with examples of people prioritising personal best interest over social responsibility. Psychologically the survival drive is wired in above all else. The gig economy need reassuring and incentivising now to, if and when they have symptoms of coronavirus, report those symptoms and self isolate. Many zero hours workers are found within the field of health and many work in community going from home to home and visiting the most vulnerable in our society.
