Petition Action

MPs to be held legally accountable for claims that affect referendums/elections.

Petition Details

Any MP proven to have used either disinformation or misinformation to unfairly affect the result of a referendum or election should be prosecuted, with the result of the referendum or election being declared null and void.

Additional Information

Fictitious promises such as spending £350m a week on the NHS following Brexit must lead to the perpetrator being held legally accountable for example, with the referendum being rerun.

Everyone in the country, no matter what their political opinions are, deserves the right to make an informed decision as part of our democracy. That politicians are legally allowed to lie to manipulate the voting public defiles democracy. It is not acceptable to anyone.
