Introduce Minimum Wage For 16 And 17 Year Olds!

Petition Details

I would like the UK government to introduce a law that means the younger generations that do still work, the 16 and 17 year olds of the country still get good pay, they work just as hard and don’t get payed even half of what they should most of the time.

Additional Information

The government needs to step into this subject because, companies will continue to underpay and overwork mainly students who are 16 and 17 because they can! Only the government can make this law and help bring some equality to the young adults of our society.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There are already minimum wages for people under the age of 18, although these are lower than for people aged 18 and over: www.gov.uk/national-minimum-wage-rates

We have published a petition calling for the minimum wage to be made equal for all ages and increased to at least £10, which you might like to sign: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/301749
