This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you public officials and elected representatives to beheld accountable for being dishonest, but it's not clear what you want the Government or Parliament to do to achieve this.

Civil servants are already subject to the Civil Service Code, of which honesty is one of the core values. The Civil Service Commission can investigate complaints about breaches of the code.

MPs are subject to the House of Commons Code of Conduct, of which honesty is one of the general principles of conduct. The Committee on Standards and the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards can investigate complaints about breaches of the Code of Conduct.

Ministers are subject to the Ministerial Code, which requires the principle of honesty to be honoured at all times. Investigations into breaches of the Ministerial Code are a matter for the Prime Minister.

If you want these arrangements to be changed, you could start a petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do to achieve this.
