Ending violence begins with babies
Local authorities are forever firefighting when it comes to child protection. They need to turn off the taps of child abuse if they are ever to reduce levels of violence in society. The costs of dysfunction in the UK are £200 billion p.a. (Centre for Social Justice Report 2011). Early Intervention (Graham Allen style) mostly tackles problems long after they have started when they are costly and very hard to resolve.
The WAVE Trust 70/30 Alliance (see www.wavetrust.org) , backed by The Early Years Champions promotes detailed action plans which will save taxes, save lives and create safer communities.
Government MUST require local authorities to adopt primary prevention (the first 3 years of life) and government must fund that primary prevention with ring fenced money.
