Fund Vertebral Body Tethering (VBT) on the NHS for people with scoliosis

Petition Details

Fund VBT as an available treatment for scoliosis on the NHS, enabling patients who are suitable to have access to treatment that is less invasive; does not limit growth; results in smaller incisions; reduces the risk of blood loss and most importantly preserves the flexibility of their spine.

Additional Information

VBT is advancing more quickly across Europe (especially in Turkey, Spain & Germany) and significantly in the USA. In August 2019, the procedure received approval by the FDA in America and has been acknowledged by the British Scoliosis Society as a potential treatment here in the UK.
The availability of this treatment could support medical advancements in our country; negate the need for patients travelling abroad to access treatment and significantly offer patients treatment choices.
