Increase the penalty for driving without insurance from £200 and 6 points on your License.
With spiralling car insurance premiums; uninsured drivers are adding to the premiuims of law-abiding citizens, whilst only paying a measly £200 and 6 penalty points if they get caught.
With most policies costing twice as much as this, and many considerably more; surely a much more substantial fine should be implemented to deter the evasion of car insurance.
Uninsured drivers are saving thousands of pounds for themselves, whilst the rest of us have to pay for it. This is certainly not right; and a fine in the £1000's would be much fairer for all. Such action could save everyone else money and would certainly encourage more drivers to get insurance; or not drive at all.
