Shipping companies can discriminate against job applicants.
The Equality Act 2010 Section 81 and the Equality Act 2010 (Work on Ships and Hovercraft) Regulations 2011 change them.
To stop discrimination against job applicants within the selection process on England and Wales soil with impunity with regard to race, disability, gender, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, age, religion or belief, with regard to vacancies for jobs on ships which sail under a foreign flag and in international waters.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We understand that you have concerns about how the Equality Act applies to workers in shipping industry, but it's not clear what you want the Government to do about this.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. This could be changing how the Equality Act applies to workers in the shipping sector, or calling on the Government to take action to make sure shipping companies are abiding by current legislation.
