Make it mandatory to report any accident or injury to cats by a vehicle.
Currently, if cats are run-over or injured by motor vehicles this does not to be reported. However, for dogs the law is different. I believe that this is unfair and cats are just as to families as dogs.
For example, imagine if the law discriminated between men and women!, this is atrocious.
The Road Traffic Act 1988 only gives rules around certain types of animals: dogs, goats, horses, cattle, donkeys, mules, sheep and pigs.
If you hit one of these animals you are required by law to report it to the police.
If you hit an animal that is not included in the Road Traffic Act, such as a cat or a fox, you are not legally required to report. I believe that this is unfair as cats are us much part of a family as dogs.
