Allow sick pay for all 0 hour contracts during the Coronavirus outbreak

Petition Details

Allow sick pay for all zero hour workers. Zero hour contracts are popular in the UK, especially for event staff. These include places such as sporting stadiums and concert venues. For many, self isolating is not an affordable option. This increases the risk of spreadong viruses.

Additional Information

Many people are not eligible to claim SSP due to their earnings not being high enough. The government should make temporary changes to allow ALL workers on zero hour contracts, who have worked and have ANY earnings in the past 4 weeks, to be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay.

SSP is currently £94.25 per week. The government should consider ALL workers for the full amount or a reduced amount for workers on a zero hour contracts.
