Install copper and copper alloy surfaces across the UK to help prevent COVID-19
This petition calls for the UK government to debate and hopefully establish a programme of replacing surfaces with copper and/or copper alloys, to help stop spread of COVID-19
Copper is antimicrobial and can rapidly destroy some viruses and bacteria. Coronavirus can live on other materials for days. We need to do whatever we can to manage the issues around Coronavirus and also other health problems such as Norovirus, therefore it makes sense to change the materials we use, to one which has inherent beneficial properties.

We understand that you want the Government to take action to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but we're not sure exactly what you want the Government to do to achieve this.
It's not clear what action the Government could take to install copper and copper alloy surfaces to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as the Government is only responsible for surfaces in Government properties.
