Hold an Inquiry into DVSA’s treatment of Disabled People & Complaint System
Hold an inquiry into why Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) examiners conducting driving tests don’t receive specific training in major disabilities leading to ill-judged decisions & disabled people being labelled by DVSA staff & wrongly accused of making a complaint when requesting their data
The scope should include addressing 10 yrs of all unresolved complaints & following reforms:
- In all driving test centres, the DVSA must list on their notice boards all training that examiners & staff have undergone to make judgements on disabled people, who must be informed
- Regulate the disclosure process. Restructure the complaint system
- Currently, the same managers & legal departments handling complaints also decide on data requests
- For a single tribunal with more power to conduct appeals
