Suspend business rates for all retail companies for at least 3 months
The announcement to give 100% discount on business rates for retail businesses that have a rateable value below £51,000 do not go far enough. The majority of small and medium sized retail and hospitality businesses in central London would not fall under that threshold.
Businesses (and consequently their employees) such as those in London Chinatown have suffered huge losses since January 2020 as a result of coronavirus. The government should suspend all business rates for retail and hospitality businesses for at least 3 months
