Petition Action

Employ aggressive social distancing measures now to contain Covid-19.

Petition Details

To immediately introduce social distancing measures to include the banning of large public gatherings; working from home; closure of educational establishments; etc - as employed by other countries.

Additional Information

The attitude towards social distancing of the cities of Philadelphia and Boston during the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic applies. According to a scientific paper published in the US, Philadelphia did not place any restrictions on social gatherings. 4,500 citizens died. In Boston, schools, playgrounds, libraries, courtrooms and churches were shut down. Work shifts were staggered and public transport limited. Gatherings of more than 20 people were banned. The result? A reduction of more than 50% fatality rate. Aggressive social distancing works.
