Guarantee pay to 0 hour workers in the event of a covid-19 business closure.
As the spread of covid-19 continues there has been no guarantee workers on 0-hours contracts in any affected businesses will be paid should their place of employment be forced to temporarily close. This has the potential to induce mass financial hardship on workers on these contracts.
The Government should introduce legislation to protect 0 hour contract workers ensuring they are paid should their place of employment be forced to temporarily close. They should ensure this pay is not being taken as part of the employees holiday entitlement and support businesses financially to pay these workers during this difficult time.
