Government should provide all citizens with £1000 per month UBI during COVID-19
To support self-employed and local economies a Universal Basic Income should be applied for the next three months (recommended £1000/month) to help people make ends meet and temporarily increase people's purchasing power supporting businesses.
The government's current proposals fail to support everyone from the economic effects of COVID-19. Ultimately almost any proposal will fail to support everyone.
An emergency UBI would:
A. Help those who would miss out from other proposals (especially gig economy, self-employed).
B: Increase the purchasing power of all, temporarily leading to more economic activity and supporting businesses during and in the immediate aftermath of the pandemic.
C. Support funeral costs of those most unfortunate
