Introduce an emergency Universal Basic Income (UBI) in response to Coronavirus
Covid-19 is putting families, communities and our economy at risk. It has already plunged millions of people into economic insecurity.
The government must introduce an emergency UBI - direct cash payments - to protect household finances and help people in the UK survive this crisis.
Politicians in Canada, America, Japan and Europe have called on their governments to introduce an emergency UBI in response to Coronavirus. They have been joined by highly respected economists like Claudia Sahm, Jason Furman and Greg Mankiw.
Direct cash payments would help people, carers and families survive the economic uncertainty while alleviating pressure on businesses, giving them the chance to weather the storm.
The UK government must act now to ensure economic security for everybody.
