Make 0900 to 1100hrs “OAP only” shopping in supermarkets.
Due to the problems created by panic buying, many old people are unable to purchase basic necessities including many foodstuffs and hygiene products.
Just relying on the general publics’ sense of Fair Play is not working and those that are less able are struggling to get what shopping they need. Many of them do not drive and therefore cannot get about easily to source these items.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The opening arrangements for supermarkets are a matter for individual retailers, not the Government or Parliament. A number of retailers have announced plans to open early for elderly or vulnerable customers. You should contact your local supermarket to find out if they have put such arrangements in place.
The Government has made certain changes to enable supermarkets to work together during the coronavirus outbreak, particularly to serve customers who are elderly, ill or vulnerable: www.gov.uk/government/news/supermarkets-to-join-forces-to-feed-the-nation
We have published a petition calling on the Government to introduce limits on per customer purchases in all supermarkets, which you might like to sign: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/300766
