Petition Action

Change the coronavirus strategy - start to test everyone - get new leaders

Petition Details

To reduce the threat of Covid-19 in the UK and elsewhere, we need to test all suspect cases. We need targetted and random tests to identify cases in the community. We need to quarantine the infected and release the uninfected.

We need new leadership with experience in epidemics.

Additional Information

The World Health Organisation recommendation:
"All countries must aim to stop transmission and prevent the spread of COVID-19, whether they face no cases, sporadic cases, clusters or community transmission."
https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/events-as-they-happen

"Herd immunity" cannot be achieved without massive levels of death. We need a strategy which does not rely on this.

We need new leadership which can regain the trust of the British people

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The conduct of tests is a clinical decision for the NHS, not the UK Government or Parliament.

We have published a petition calling for the Government to provide publicly accessible testing for coronavirus around the UK, which you might want to sign: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/301354

Since you started your petition the Government has announced that testing for coronavirus (COVID-19) will increase to 25,000 a day: www.gov.uk/government/news/testing-for-coronavirus-covid-19-will-increase-to-25-000-a-day
