Petition Action

Scrap the existing US-UK extradition treaty and negotiate a new one which allows prosecution in British courts under the British legal system.

Additional Information

The current US-UK extradition treaty is flawed.
The US government can request the extradition of any British citizen without providing evidence in court.
It is difficult for a Brtitish citizen to defend their case under the US justice system if all material witnesses reside in the UK and currently US courts do not allow video interviews or provide any legal financial support for defence which a British citizen expects if defending in British courts.
The government should scrap the US extradition treaty with immediete effect and negotiate a new treaty which focuses on protection of British citizens, allows prosecution and confinement in British legal and penal system.
