Provide a Universal Basic Income (UBI) non means-tested, starting immediately.
The declaration of a global pandemic is not a time for half measures. For some, it is already a matter of urgency.
Mass loss of income invites desperation, civil unrest and potential social collapse, abandoning people to complete downfall.
UBI consolidates diverse calls for financial help.
UBI will support the self employed, those giving up work to care for sick, orphaned and bereaved, those who work diversely across the gig economy and all on zero hours contracts. Also for those IN ‘regular’ employment or not in receipt of regular, sustaining income.
UBI will:
Enable payment of rent/mortgages, food, medicines, enable bereaved or afflicted families to reorganize, enable individuals to stay home whilst sick, support the retail sector and wider economy.
Many lives depend on this.
