Petition Action

Oppose 20mph speed limits on primary London borough roads

Petition Details

Establish more realistic speed limits on primary roads. A hindrance to local boroughs, slows down traffic to unrealistic level and causes more anger and frustration to local drivers.

Additional Information

Drastically cutting speed limits does not improve safety nor does it drastically cut carbon emissions as constant idling is a serious issue.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise.

Responsibility for local roads in London is shared between Transport for London and the Greater London Authority. You could submit a petition to the Greater London Authority asking for a response from Transport for London.
