Petition Action

Hold the media accountable for scaremongering

Petition Details

We need to be able to hold the media/news outlets accountable for scaremongering the public.

Additional Information

The bodies that govern the media do not accept reports for scaremongering in their list for reporting. The recent COVID-19 attention in the media has sparked panic buying when it is not necessary, which creates more problems for people trying to complete a normal shop and a shortage of necessities for those more vulnerable in society. It causes people to lose jobs, businesses and affects the overall economy negatively.
