Seek to join Comprehensive & Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership

Petition Details

The UK is at increased risk of losing self-reliance following Brexit without firm allies. We have been welcomed by Japan to join the CPTPP alongside our closest Commonwealth allies, including emerging markets which are growing faster and providing more lucrative trading partners than the EU or US.

Additional Information

The UK has attempted to negotiate a US trade deal since Brexit, with unsettling examples of chlorinated chicken and selling the NHS, demonstrating that the US has no interest in a mutually beneficial outcome.

This follows concerns on Chinese-built nuclear power plants in the UK, further pointing to loss of British economic independence that the CPTPP could protect.
