Petition Action

For new properties to be generally south facing and have solar panels installed.

Petition Details

That the government highlight the need for new properties to be generally south facing and have solar panels installed initially and provides suitable changes to planning laws.

Additional Information

Plans for property developments usually shows properties facing in all directions, some not really suitable for solar collectors. I want the government to make changes to the planing processes to deliver more south facing properties with solar panels.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Government is not responsible for the orientation of new build properties.

You could start a new petition requiring that solar panels be installed on all new properties, and to provide information to buyers on the likely energy that will be generated based on the positioning of the panels.

We have published a petition calling on the Government to Make rooftop solar installations mandatory for all new homes valued over £400000, which you might like to sign: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/302355
