Petition Action

Award students their predicted grades due to the outbreak of COVID-19

Petition Details

Due to the sudden and unexpected outbreak of COVID-19, school closures are potentially an option our government will have to take to delay the spread of the virus. This would have a detrimental effect on students for A-Level and GCSE, as they would miss out on lesson time, preparing them for exams.

Additional Information

Therefore, the option of awarding students their predicted grades for both A-Level and GCSE results should be considered, as students who are having to/choosing to self-isolate are missing out on key information in preparation for their exams. Furthermore, a closure of schools would greatly hinder students achievement when it comes to their exams as they would once again be missing key lessons and exam preparation practice.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about exams are a matter for exam boards and individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament. You can read the decision made by exam boards on what will happen to exams here:

If you want the Government to review the decision to use previous data to calculate exam grades, you may wish to sign this petition:

As a result of the large numbers of petitions people have tried to start on this issue, and following a large number of questions it received from petitioners about exams, the Petitions Committee asked the Government about the impact of coronavirus on schools and exams.
