Petition Details

During Coronavirus outbreak, NHS will need more nurses, there are thousands of overseas nurses in the UK not able to get the PIN number because IELTS requirement is very high. If government considers scrapping or lowering the IELTS requirement, these nurses can be a great help during this situation.

During Coronavirus outbreak, NHS will need more nurses, there are thousands of overseas nurses in the UK not able to get the PIN number because IELTS requirement is very high. If government considers scrapping or lowering the IELTS requirement, these nurses can be a great help during this situation. This can be applied for only those nurses who are already working in the UK for certain period of time.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The English language requirements for nurses are set by the independent regulator for nurses and midwives in the UK, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), not the Government or Parliament.

You could start a petition calling on the Government to take action to increase the number of nurses available to support the UK's fight against coronavirus, including by encouraging the NMC to reduce language requirements for overseas nurses.
